Man flees Walmart with TVs

Walmart, 2485 Possum Run Road, Mansfield – A 48-year-old man told police Friday afternoon that he saw a 39-year-old man pushing a cart across the parking lot at a high rate of speed. He said the cart had TVs with the security devices still attached. A state trooper stopped the suspect’s car. The 39-year-old, a front-seat passenger, was arrested for theft, as well as a warrant out of Richland County. A 26-year-old man also was arrested for theft.

100 block of Penn Avenue, Mansfield – A 17-year-old girl told police Friday afternoon that she suspects a 21-year-old man of abusing her 2-year-old son. She said she noticed several small bruises on the child’s back and buttocks while changing his diaper. Richland County Children Services was contacted. Police could not locate the suspect.

300 block of James Avenue, Mansfield – A 27-year-old man apparently overdosed Friday afternoon. Police reported finding him unconscious on the bathroom floor of the location. City firefighters gave him naloxone and took him to OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital. Police reported finding a syringe, a spoon and a torch lighter on the bathroom counter, as well as another syringe and a push rod in the suspect’s coat. Charges will be forwarded to the county prosecutor’s office.

600 block of West Fourth Street, Mansfield – A 35-year-old woman told police Friday evening that a furnace had been stolen from an empty residence. She gave the name of a suspect.

Volunteers of America, 923 N. Main St., Mansfield – A 40-year-old woman reportedly walked out the doors Friday morning and did not return.
