Great news for those who bought a Wear OS smartwatch, as Google is now bringing new improvements to some of them that will eventually reduce power consumption. The improvements are made via Google Fit, a health-tracking platform developed by Google for Wear OS (Android too).
Well, it looks like the latest Google Fit update makes it possible for some Wear OS smartwatch to use a battery saving low power GPS mode. Basically, this means that these smartwatches will be much more efficient with battery use when running Google Fit.
However, battery savings varies with each unique situation, but you should definitely notice an improvement in battery life in most situations, even if minimal in some cases.
Now, this should be the part where we tell you which smartwatches are getting this improvement, but from what we’ve been able to learn, it looks like there’s just one that will receive the Google Fit update initially – Mobvoi’s TicWatch Pro.
Even so, we expect Google to roll out the update to other Wear OS smartwatches as well, but we don’t have a timeline for the moment, so here is hoping it will come sooner rather than later.
