Election Commission of India (ECI) had on Sunday announced the Lok Sabha election dates and the poll code of conduct was enforced subsequently.
Meanwhile, a few government school headmasters invited their Class XII students to issue free laptops. “My school teacher called me on Sunday evening, asking me to come to the school to collect the free laptop,” said a Class XII student, requesting anonymity.
Upon receiving a tip that teachers of Pavadi government girls’ higher secondary school had issued free laptops to students on Sunday and Monday, the collector issued a show cause notice to the school headmaster seeking an explanation for violating the model code of conduct.
“Strict action will be taken initiated against the headmaster if he is found guilty,” the collector said and urged all the school heads and teachers to abide by the poll code of conduct.
