STAMFORD — A number of local groups joined forces to procure over 200 new and refurbished laptops from businesses and community groups as part of the 2020 Stamford Community Laptop Drive.

The weekend event was co-sponsored by the Stamford Police Department, YES (Youth Employment Show), Sunshine Cuisine and the Stamford Alumni from Kappa Alpha Psi fraternity.

Technicians cleaned, updated and installed software on the computers, which will be redistributed to children in need of a computer.

Stamford Public Schools announced last week plans for a Hybrid Learning, where students will receive two days of in classroom instruction and three days of continued Virtual Distance Learning, in an effort to continue the fight against the spread of COVID-19.

Among those making a donation was Stamford Police Chief Timothy Shaw and his wife, Nancy, that he acquired from family and neighbors.
